Inti Ninna Preethiya -Review

Celluloid has always shown that men who lose in love take to drinking. Indian films have glorified the bottle in hand Devdas pining for his love. Suri's second film is yet another take on a young man ruining his life with booze. Inti Ninna Preetiya (Yours Lovingly), is the story of a painter, Ranjeev fondly called Raji, played by Krishna ( Srinagar itty). His job is simply to keep the frames colourful. This is a Devadas from the poorer sections of society.
Raji's lady love Namana(Sonu) is a practical lass who marries here brother's choice of a groom. This forces Raji into drinking. The second half of the film does nothing but show Raji drink in dozens of bars, day and night, sun and rain. To stop his downfall, his family gets him married. But Raji can only stare at the abyss of the bottle, where wife, child and family hardly matter.
Each of the characters stands out. Both Krishna and Sonu are a welcome addition to the list of leading actors in Kannada. Rangayana Raghu and Kishore are impressive as always. Suri, himself a painter, has managed to etch each scene as a painting. The excessive drinking by Raji might just give audiences a hangover instead of a high.
