Release 2008 Release 2008 A kind-hearted person ventures to help others
but ends up being a victim himself. This plot is familiar but will make you
smile as well. Vijay (Akul Balaji)
goes overboard in helping others only to be battered by them, largely due to
his stupidity! Though ‘Dubai return’ he is unemployed and is sent to reside
with sister (Jyothi) and brother-in-law (Rangayana), much to the annoyance of the latter, who has
to pay for Vijay’s antics. Equally paradoxical is Vijay’s
encounter with Anupama (Smitha) whom he saves
from disgrace only to be slapped later and charged with theft! Soon Anupama’s positive attitude makes Vijay realize the value
of a job. The hard lives of other characters inspires
him to achieve something in life as well. Atmiya which means intimate, or a dear one, is the debut of
director Govindraj and actor Balaji.
It is a well-directed movie with a good dose of comedy. But the pace of the movie is slow in
places. Some of the characters disappear indiscriminately and others are
futile as their presence makes no difference. Songs fail to impress. But kudos to Balaji who excels in all departments of acting. He seems
to have a penchant for comedy. His comic scenes with Raganayana
are a treat to watch. Smitha has done a neat job
and is impressive. The movie is worth a watch. |
